Summary:baby tech

With CES and MWC this year being dominated by smartwatch launches, it’s quite easy to only read the headlines and miss the smaller trends. One area in particular that has recently gone from taking its first steps to huge leaps forward is baby tech. Raising a child can be one of the most demanding and challenging life experiences, and these innovative companies are using Bluetooth® technology to make the ride a little smoother.

NapTime
The first 18 months of parenting is arguably the most time-intensive, leaving little room for quality rest. In an effort to address this imbalance, NapTime is promoting itself as being “the first baby monitor that takes care of parents.” A smart baby monitor is connected via Bluetooth Smart technology to wristbands worn by sleeping parents that will silently vibrate alternately whenever a baby is crying. The result is only one parent will be wakened when the baby is crying, allowing the individual parents to catch up on a few winks!

Pacif-i
Wireless healthcare monitoring experts Blue Maestro have turned their hand to solving one of parents’ chief priorities: baby health and wellbeing. The Pacif-i offers peace of mind to childcare providers by remotely monitoring a baby’s temperature via a Bluetooth Smart enabled pacifier. With the app, parents can record when medication was administered, set up reminders and share the data with guardians and medical professionals. Pacif-i also features a built-in proximity sensor that monitors the pacifier’s location and alerts parents if the child wanders off!

Edwin the Duck
Bath time will never be the same again with Edwin the Duck, the world’s first interactive rubber ducky. According to Don Inman, president and co-founder at Pi Lab, Edwin is “no ordinary duck.” The smart toy engages children in learning by linking via Bluetooth to a smart device that delivers interactive content through the Edwin app. The impressive roster of features includes interactive read-along stories, a Bluetooth waterproof floating speaker, LED night light, temperature sensor and accelerometer.
