Last week, I took to the streets of Vegas. No, I wasn’t living out a real-life scene of The Hangover; I was tracking the number of steps I took at the Consumer Electronics Show as part of our Step it Up at CES challenge.

The goal of the challenge was to highlight the role that Bluetooth technology plays in the health and fitness space through remote monitoring and data transfer. But we also wanted to find out which CES blogger was the most active. I thought it couldn’t hurt to up the level of competition a bit with a little participation from yours truly.

With my BodyMedia FIT Armband BW secured on my left arm, I was able to track my fitness levels with the help of Bluetooth technology. This is the first Bluetooth enabled armband of its kind that can communicate with your smartphone, allowing you to view your progress in near real-time as you weave in and out of company booths at the largest consumer electronics show in the world.

As I strapped on my armband, I was determined to give the 12 participating bloggers a run for their money. So I started walking. I walked the show floor a few times, walked to D at CES, walked to the Paris hotel where I saw Stevie Wonder perform at the “Monster Retailer Awards and Concert,” and walked to the Tweet House "It Won’t Stay in Vegas" party where we announced the winners of our Best of CES Awards.

When I thought I’d walked all I could, I walked some more. It paid off – I logged 52,612 steps during my stint at CES 2011. But was that enough to go to toe-to-toe with my competing tech bloggers?

Lance Ulanoff of PC Magazine, Mari Silbey of Zatz Not Funny, and Enid Burns of Kinect Shift have already blogged about the challenge. Click on the links to read what they have to say.

We’re still working through our bloggers’ results, but I’m confident I’ve put up some solid numbers. We’ll announce the winner of the challenge next week, so stay tuned as we crown the most active tech blogger at CES 2011.
