The use of mesh and beacon technology to improve customer experience is becoming increasingly prevalent in the world of retail, but did you know that these two technologies can actually be combined to create something new?
Ubudu, a recent attendee at our Discover Blue: London event, is excited about the latest trend of “mesh beacons” and feels we are in the beginning stages of seeing what beacons can offer. The company created uBeacon Mesh, the world’s first mesh beacon, which allows consumers and retailers to interact with each other quickly and easily through the use of Bluetooth® technology.
Opening Up a New World
The combination of Bluetooth and mesh opens a whole new world of consumer experiences not possible with conventional beacons. This new kind of beacon transforms the current generation of location-broadcasting beacons into a two-way, net-connected network. For example, a customer standing in the science fiction section of their local bookstore could send a message using a smartphone asking for recommendations or assistance at their location. This is a win-win situation where customers get the assistance they need, and the store makes a sale all without the need for Wi-Fi or mobile data connectivity since its enabled with Bluetooth.
