What’s Cooking? Bluetooth Offers Smart Home Chefs a Helping Hand

Kitchens are at the heart of any home—and are certainly the heart of many of the latest smart homeinnovations. General Electric’s recent Connect Chef line is a new addition (coming fall 2015) that gives home chefs a helping hand, using Bluetooth® technology to connect the range and microwave.

Both hands busy managing pan and spatula? No problem. Your Bluetooth sous chef has you covered. You can preset the over-the-stove light on the microwave or overhead vent to automatically turn on when the range’s burner is turned on, using Bluetooth to manage the connectivity. Bluetooth also automatically syncs the microwave and range clocks so they always tell the same time. (There goes one of any chef’s pet peeves: that one-minute difference between your appliances!)

“This connectivity is really all about convenience,” says GE product manager Heather Koyama. “We believe adding this technology will be a feature that consumers in kitchens across America will appreciate.”
