Wearable technology is full of clever products, with more head-shakingly-cool devices appearing every day. Yet once in a while a product shows us just how close we really are to living in a sci-fi world. Introducing the Cicret bracelet—which features Bluetooth® Smart technology, a pico projector and proximity sensors—to turn your arm into a smart, interactive display.

Imagine flicking your wrist to see and interact with your smartphone or tablet screen on the skin of your forearm—and then flick again to make the screen disappear. Check directions on the go without fumbling for your phone, dash off a quick text on your arm, or even answer a call while you’re in the tub (hey, we don’t judge). If it sounds like something out of a spy movie, then French company Cicret (pronounced “secret”) is ready to help you channel your inner secret agent—and soon, you may be able to do so.

The Cicret bracelet is still in pre-production, but a working prototype resembles a fitness band worn on the wrist. The band communicates with a smartphone or tablet using low-energy Bluetooth Smart technology. A flick of the wrist activates the band’s pico projector to project the screen on the user’s forearm. Eight long-range proximity sensors in the band capture the user’s finger movements on the projected screen, which the band sends back to the smartphone using Bluetooth. The bracelet can work in varied conditions: under water, outside in broad daylight, and on any skin tone.
